What’s the festival all about?

Our biennial Arts Learning Festival celebrates the importance of the arts in education. Independent Schools Victoria, representing almost 220 schools, hosts the festival, and we invite all schools from all sectors to take part. The program reflects our festival theme of ‘unlimited imagination’, and has deep connections to the classroom, allowing educators to use the festival to deliver the curriculum

When is the festival?

In 2019, the Arts Learning Festival runs from Thursday 2 May to Saturday 4 May, inclusive. The Schools' Program runs on Thursday and Friday. Our Community Day is on the Saturday, and has a separate program, with lots of free, fun events at the festival village at Birrarung Marr, near Federation Square.

How can I decide if an event is suitable for my class?

Go to the program section on the festival website, which includes event descriptions, as well as information about year levels, subjects and curriculum areas covered. If you have any questions, contact us via email - artslearningfestival@is.vic.edu.au - or on (03) 9825 7200.

How much do tickets cost?

For the Schools' Program, tickets begin at $10 per student. while teachers and supervising adults are free. Teacher Workshops are between $20 and $50.

How do I book tickets?

Simply click on the Bookings button on the event you have chosen, and follow the simple instructions.

Photography and video

We will be taking photographs and video during the festival for promotional purposes. If you do not want to be photographed or filmed, please let us know ahead of the event so we can ensure it doesn’t happen.

What about food and drink?

Students can bring snacks and lunch. While eating is not allowed in venues, there are plenty of nearby open spaces. There are also food outlets near the venues.
