Student Poetry Competition 2026 Finalist: Kiwi

Kiwi

by Liyanah Souzan Awad, Ilim College
Foundation – Year 2 Written Poetry Finalist

Kiwi, kiwi, round and small,

like a little half-circle ball.

Light brown outside, green inside,

with little black seed ants hiding inside.

It feels a little soft to me,

and tastes sour and deliciously.

It is yummy, that is true,

and it makes my tongue turn green too!

Kiwi makes me happy and healthy.

I eat it when my friend Aaliyah is not around,

because she is allergic to kiwi.

If I was a kiwi for one whole day,

I would not let them eat me.

I would run away!
