Student Poetry Competition 2026 Finalist: My Fruity Dream

My Fruity Dream

by Jonathan Yang, Mentone Grammar
Foundation – Year 2 Written Poetry Finalist

In my dream, I was eating an apple red,

I was sitting happily in my bed.

I was wearing a spectacular hat,

When I pulled it out, there was a cat!

The cat put a banana on my head,

“Hello!” she said, and we went ahead.

She became my lovely pet,

Then we boarded a flying fruit jet.

Oranges, grapes and berries flew,

And juicy apples joined us too.

We were catching fruits on the run.

We had so much colorful fruity fun!

Then I woke up in my cosy bed,

With funny fruity thoughts in my head.

What a fruity dream, what a day!

I hope my fruity friends come back to play.
