‘A spark that sets them on their way’

The Victorian Deputy Premier and Education Minister, James Merlino, has encouraged families to take part in Arts Learning Festival, calling it a ‘highlight of Victoria’s 2019 education calendar’.

Mr Merlino, a festival ambassador, has recorded a special message of support for the festival, which you can watch here.

The theme of the Arts Learning Festival, ‘unlimited imagination’, promotes the important role of the arts in the classroom, and Mr Merlino said he ‘couldn’t support that idea more strongly’, stressing the ‘vital role’ of the arts in ‘nurturing the wellbeing, confidence, creativity and ambitions of our young people’.

‘Many of the next great innovations in our society will be led by students who embrace the arts. They have the vision, creativity and boldness to drive our state forward. The Independent Schools Victoria Arts [Learning] Festival could be the spark that sets them on their way.’

Our festival is open to every student in Victoria, and our Community Day offers arts-based events for families and children at our festival village at Birrarung Marr. Come along and join in the fun between 10 am and 3.30 pm. We’ve got a silent disco, face painting, stilt walkers, bubble craft, circus arts, food trucks and more.
