Student Film Festival 2025: Year 11 winners and finalists

This year’s Student Film Festival brought together a wide range of ideas, styles and voices. Each category showcases how students are learning to tell stories through film in their own way.

Students in Year 11 explored a range of filmmaking choices, experimenting with visual style and approach. Their films reflect careful planning and a growing interest in how cinematic techniques can shape a story.

Selected films were shortlisted from more than 100 entries overall. Final judging was undertaken by education staff at ACMI.

Here we present all the winners and finalists in the Year 11 category:

‘The story was tight with a fun twist, and we really liked how you used one small moment to explore something bigger in a creative way. The camera work and editing, especially the cloning and action scenes, were super impressive, and you handled the topic with a nice balance of humour and sensitivity.’
Winner: Three Sides of Michael

‘A super fun and snappy piece. You took a simple concept and executed it in a really creative way. The editing was a real standout with great pacing, sound effects, and overlays that gave it a really professional look. You clearly have a strong sense of timing and visual storytelling.’
