Melbourne in a Day
by Angus Grof, Bialik College
Finalist, Years 3 – 4, written poetry
As the day starts off,
There is a breeze,
As cold as ice,
In an ice cream sundae.
The rain is crying,
As wet as ever,
All around,
The city of Melbourne
But then,
Golden leaves start dancing off trees,
The trees,
Now have no leaves,
The different colour leaves,
Are as colourful as a rainbow,
All around,
The city of Melbourne.
And then the breeze gets warmer,
And the clouds clear,
The sun smiles down,
On the enormous world,
While in a beautiful blue sky,
So vast and vivid,
All around,
the city of Melbourne.
Then the breeze cools down,
Just a teensy bit,
The flowers wake up,
They’re noticeable now,
They’re everywhere,
All around,
The city of Melbourne.
The moon starts to wake,
And the sun settles down,
The stars start to come out,
They are very shy,
All around,
The city of Melbourne.
