Pen to Paper
by Dwisha Kalyani, Glen Waverley Secondary College
Finalist, Years 9 – 10, written poetry
Pen to paper,
Love and life pour out of me.
Gentle strokes sway,
The page before me fills.
I string my words together, sentences forming,
Learning.
My hand smudges the ink across the page,
Imperfection.
I erase my page so hard it rips,
Mistakes.
I rip the page out and scrunch it,
Failure.
My pen slowly fades and runs out,
Struggles.
I change my pen, black to blue
Renewal.
I turn the page, start a new chapter, when all seems lost,
Redemption.
I finish my final word with a sigh,
Last breath.
What a journey it is, to write.
‘A poignant reflection on the emotional journey of writing.’
