Our Unique Bushel

‘Apples’ by Ambroży Sabatowski (1917)
The warm sunlight shone on my glossy red skin,
I looked around at my blossoming friends,
Annie Apple, they like to call me,
The freshest of apples, in the apple tree.
Amy hangs, as grumpy as ever,
Insects climb, making her quiver,
That crimson red apple, makes us all giggle,
We laugh and laugh as she tries to wriggle.
Then there’s Annabelle, as shiny as gold,
Her superiority never gets old,
She goes on and on, always proud,
Oh, Annabelle, don’t be so loud!
Our bushel is one, one that is unique,
We have proud apples, apples that are so chic,
Then we have me, the happiest of all,
Annie apple, standing tall.
