More than 1,400 entries were submitted to this year’s Student Poetry Competition, making 2026 another outstanding year for young poets across Victoria.
Students from Foundation to Year 12 shared poems that were thoughtful, playful, heartfelt and imaginative, with many embracing this year’s optional theme, Fruit, in surprising and creative ways.
Together, the entries offered a fascinating snapshot of the ideas, experiences and perspectives of young people, demonstrating the enduring power of poetry to connect, challenge and inspire.
