About the Student Film Festival

Independent Schools Victoria’s Student Film Festival celebrates the achievements of student film makers, and the vital role media literacy plays in the contemporary education landscape.

Through the creation of short films, students engage with the skills and knowledge to tell stories and investigate ideas from their personal worldview and in studies across the curriculum. This process enables the growth of a unique visual language for communication and thinking skills to critically analyse the complex presentations of media in the world around them.

Students can work collaboratively or individually to explore and express their ideas through a range of genres and technical approaches to engage their audiences.

Our Student Film Festival is open to all students from all Victorian schools.

Winners for last year's festival were announced at a sold-out showcase at ACMI. Click below to view the finalists. This year, our finalists and winners will once again be celebrated at an awards night hosted at ACMI on Tuesday 21 October 2025.
