Through the lens of one man’s true story, the Forgotten Warrior highlights the experience of Indigenous soldiers in the trenches of WWI and their shocking treatment on their return.

Presented by the Storey Players, this captivating theatrical performance tells the story of Peter Craigie – one of more than 1,000 Indigenous soldiers who fought for Australia in WWI.

The Forgotten Warrior combines drama, history, cinema and live theatre to explore some of the critical social issues impacting Australia’s First Nations people.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander viewers are advised that the following video may contain images and voices of people who have died.

The Storey Players worked with Trevina Rogers, a Pitta Pitta woman in north-west QLD, to write this story of her great-uncle, Peter Craigie. It will be performed in English with elements of the near extinct Pitta Pitta language, as translated by Trevina.

The Storey Players’ artistic practice is built on research and authentic dialogue that seeks to restore the narratives and heritage languages of Australia’s First Nations people.
