BackSuitable for

Subject areas
The Arts, Critical & Creative Thinking
From Vermeer to van Gogh, Anime in Chocolate will open a cocoa-filled world of possibility for artistic practice.
Contemporary artists often use non-traditional media, creating new artworks from unexpected materials in surprising ways. This practical workshop will provide students with an opportunity to explore the delicious and edible material of chocolate as a medium for creating art.
Led by artist Danyoung Chen from Yesign Chocolate Gallery, students will view reproductions of famous artworks such as The Girl with the Pearl Earring, by Dutch master Vermeer, and Starry Night by Van Gogh. Together we will reflect on how chocolate (that has been carefully prepared) can be used as a creative artistic medium.
Students will then create their own anime character in colourful chocolate paint on a white dairy chocolate block for beginners.
